One 14-year-old boy was found dead only a few days after being falsely accused of taking the cremated remains of a deceased baby during a burglary, a coroner's inquiry has learned.

Tragic Discovery

The young boy's mother and father discovered his body in his room at his Connah's Quay home on 19 November 2021.

Untrue Accusations Begin

The investigation heard how his mother received a communication on November 8th, 2021 via social media, from a individual inquiring if Kai was her child. The message added: "Tell him appreciation for burgling my flat."

In a statement presented to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the media, asserting her infant's remains had been taken in a burglary - a claim which was untrue.

Police Inquiry

An official inquiry from authorities later determined the alleged burglary victim had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that said property was never stolen in the first place".

Media reports about the supposed stolen ashes attracted social media responses, and although Kai was not identified in the posts, his mother said individuals "knew it was him".

The "social media content were extremely upsetting", she said.

Mental Wellbeing Effect

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and as part of that condition, other individuals' opinions genuinely were important to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was untrue".

The teenager was arrested at home, but nothing was found. He was transported to a police station and later released under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the inquest learned, but had failed to contacted the relatives by the moment of his death.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the police", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged incident, she said her child told her he had entered the house because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet whenever he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Online Bullying

In a combined testimony between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being harassed digitally after the allegations.

The inquest heard that one young adult urged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no worries on the night before he died, describing how she had listened to him "chuckling and joking".

She described him as a "caring, loving" young man, and said her "relatives is completely devastated".

He had been "obviously concealing his worries", she stated, adding that he could not bear to have anybody "think bad of him".

School Response

The hearing heard from educational personnel at the local High School.

On 8 November, she "overheard some students discussing that Kai had been arrested and that was the initial I heard".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the conversation, the staff member said she rang the family's parents' telephone and left a message saying she had spoken to the student about the accusations.

The court heard his parents said they did not got that message.

Official Finding

Lead coroner informed the hearing he would wait for reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with suspects with the condition, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of future deaths report.

Providing a descriptive conclusion, he stated: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against the teenager, a young individual.

"Probably falsehoods were afterwards exaggerated and exaggerated through the medium of social media.

"On 11 November, he was interviewed by the authorities and following his questioning he was released while investigations proceeded."

The coroner concluded: "Exists no proof that the actions or failures of any organization led to or contributed to his passing and although it was the result of a self-inflicted action it is not possible to determine his purpose."
